Zanthoxylum simulans, Chinese Szechuan Pepper

Clusters of small yellow/green flowers, followed by highly aromatic small red fruit surrounding black shiny seeds. Aromatic mid green leaves. Culinary; the casing of the seed is used in eastern cooking.

Growing
The seeds require stratification to germinate. Place the seeds into a plastic bag with damp (not wet) horticultural sand and put in the lettuce compartment of a fridge for 3-4 weeks prior to sowing.
• Indoor Sowing: From early spring until mid-summer under cover into modules or small pots. Plant outside when all threat of frost has passed.
• Outdoor Sowing: Not suitable.
