Fantastic large red flowers in dense terminal whorls surrounded by dark red bracts. Mid green, lanced shaped, pointed, toothed, strongly scented leaves. Culinary; the flower petals and leaves are edible. Use the strongly flavoured leaves sparingly with fish, chicken and vegetable dishes.
Characteristics:
Bee Balm Bergamot can be seen at the herb farm in Jekka’s Herbetum and is available to buy as herb plants.

Monarda provides the characteristic scent of Oswego tea, a traditional tea which originated with the Oswego native Americans who lived in the eastern part of North America.
